Airsoft Gun Fuses

Today a lot of people have chosen to take the fuse out of their Airsoft gun. Sometimes vendors will even do this. The main reason why people say that they do this is because they feel that the fuse gets into their way whenever they are working in the small places of their guns, trying to get a battery into place. These people have also figure out that if you do not change to a higher ampage fuse when you put in new batteries then there will be a definite strain put on your gun's motor, in which case you will just keep blowing these motors.

Of course, there is also the other side of this argument that says that fuses are put there for a reason. The main reason why they are there is as protection from over-current conditions, which is bad because higher than specified currents will cause excessive heat. You also increase the load that is placed upon the motor whenever you install a more powerful spring and tighter gears. If you do not change to a higher powered motor at this time, then you will be drawing more current, since the battery voltage is not changing, in order to get the same amount of "work" out of your motor. In turn this will also draw more current, which if you have a small fuse you will then blow the fuse.

So, if you choose to remove your fuse you are going to need to:

• pull your battery connector out.
• open the fuse holder casing
• disconnect the fuse
• Close the fuse holder

As you can clearly see, this really is an easy process.

In simple terms, removing the fuse removes your protection. This will result in over-stressing your motors, melting plastic, etc.
