Hostage Rescue

You are among those who are assigned to rescue the people at the airport.

The gunmen entered the airport and started taking hostages. You are among those who are assigned to rescue the people at the airport. Terrorists have control of several gates filled with passengers. You know you are trained well, and the hostage negotiator has been hard at work looking for a way to end this without any casualties, but there is no way to look in the future to find out. You just found out that they are not sure all the shooters are accounted for. You look at your commander, and you follow as he leads your team to one of the gates. Your heart pounds as you see the hostages huddled and scared in the corner... you know you got this, so you advance.

Description:

Large or small teams can play this game, but it is more challenging with a larger group. Team A (terrorists) will be in control of the gates. Team B (rescuers) goes out to take over the gate, eliminate the gunman, and free the hostages. After reading this description, would you rather play a different game? Here are more games to try.

Setup:

Designate structures as airport gates. Each gate needs at least one hostage and one terrorist before the game starts. Remaining terrorists are allowed to hide on the field or help to guard the airport gates.

Rules:

Follow all field rules

Rescuers

Are not allowed to see which structures have hostages and gunman.
If a rescuer shoots a hostage then, the rescuer becomes one of the hostages.
Once the horn sounds, the rescuers can face the field and at the second horn, they can advance on to the field.

Terrorists

Terrorist assigned to the gate must remain at the gate.
Cannot shoot hostages.

Hostages

Hostages are not allowed to interfere with the rescuers or terrorists.
Hostages cannot use their guns until rescued and then they can help free other hostages and eliminate terrorists.

Requirements:

Water and some high protein energy snacks.

On the Field

Structures to use as gates with cover surrounding them.
The unassigned terrorists will need a place to hide.

With the Players

Guns and ammo.

Objectives:

Terrorists

Prevent rescue of hostages.
Eliminate rescuers.
Maintain possession of the gates.

Rescuers

Rescue hostages.
Eliminate terrorist.
Flush out hiding terrorists.
Acquire possession of the gates.

Hostages

Avoid being shot.
Be ready to join rescue team.

Winning:

Acquiring possession of the most gates.

Variations:

Add terrorists and rescuers throughout the game.
Have terrorists move the hostages from gate to gate until reaching the edge of the field. Terrorists win if they make it if they do not then rescuers win.
Have one structure at the edge of the field designated as an exit, and if the terrorists reach it, they are free and keep any hostages with them.

Origins/History:

Having a hostage can give a criminal or terrorist an advantage. If anyone held is considered valuable in some way, he or she can help the hostage holder have more of an advantage and may even provide protection. The hostages may also help keep the hostage holders safe because they provide an advantage and power during negotiations. Authorities are more careful to avoid hurting, injuring, or killing innocent people caught in the middle, so they often cater to the captor’s requests until they get control of the gates.
