You will wonder if you will survive and though well-wishers hope that the odds are in your favor on the field, you realize only one person will survive. You hope there are many districts entered because your chances of walking off the field increases. You trained in combat, survival, and tactical skills... You feel ready, but are you? You have been groomed and eaten until full, but has it made you a little soft? Are you overly confident? The only way to find out is to get out on the field and start... Here it goes!

Description:

Individuals or teams can play this game. This survival game brings out creativity because each person begins equipped with only goggles and must acquire everything else including a gun during the game. It promptly separates those with real skills and those who rely heavily on their equipment. When the latter is eliminated quickly, it leaves the highly skilled to compete. Setup:

Players or teams of players participate in a lottery style drawing where a representative pulls out a district number from the container. All airsoft gear, except facemasks, are scattered within a ring in the area. Limit some items like grenades, but allow the amount of guns and ammo to be generous enough that the game can last long enough for everyone to have some fun. Players can enter the field from the same spot, or enter from any spot on the edges of the field if equipment is set up in the middle of the field.

Rules:

Follow all field rules.

No physical confrontation when attempting to acquire items. If it is unclear, who got it first and both claim the gear, a ref will take possession.
After a ref takes possession of the item, eliminated from the game or hidden on the field for later acquisition.
Tributes may form alliances and create stockpiles.
Everyone contributes equal ammo and splits leftovers equally.

Requirements:

Water and some high protein energy snacks and gear everyone can use. It is best to use rental guns to avoid damage to anyone’s prized possessions.

Objectives:

First objective will be to gather as much gear as possible and before someone from another district shoots you and get to cover. After that, the goal will be to acquire other district tribute’s equipment and eliminate them from the field.

Winning:

Be the last one on the last tribute on the field.

Variations:

Put all gear in an open building where there are several entrances exits
Scatter and hide gear around the field instead of or in addition to the original stockpile
Eliminate certain areas or announce rule changes at specific intervals
For longer games, include protein snacks and water bottle in the stockpile
Assign pieces of gear points for each district can accumulate points
Have teams from each district for large groups so more people can play
Allow for a neutral medic
Simulate weather with water hoses or industrial fans
Have an item, like a small toy cat that can be exchanged for an additional life after being killed
Draw districts to have a sponsor gift at various intervals

Origins/History:

The Hunger Game is the first book in a series of science fiction books by Suzanne Collins. The 2008 novel written from the main character, 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen’s point of view, received many awards. The movie release occurred in 2012. It is a story of a future time when there are districts run by the Capitol. The Gamemakers, who oversee the games, can change the rules at will under the direction of the president. The Hunger Games are in response to a former rebellion, which require children from 12-18 to fight to the death during a televised event.
