Airsoft Gun Types
Posted by AirsoftGuns.
You need and should know the airsoft gun types if you are going to be playing in games. As an airsoft player, you have options when selecting your airsoft guns that complements your needs. The primary types are spring, electric, and gas (another one is hybrid but we will talk about that later on).
These three primary airsoft gun types can vary in price range when based on the brand, quality, and category (pistol, rifle, machine gun, sniper rifle, and etc.). The price can range from $10 for the lowest quality all the way up to $2,000 for the highest quality. It is recommended if your just starting out to not buy the most expensive airsoft gun because you should buy one of the lower quality ones to learn and practice with.
The price range based on the type is the following:
- Spring Airsoft Guns – Low Price Range
- Electric Airsoft Guns – Mid Price Range
- Gas Airsoft Guns – High Price Range
Not to say you can't find a high priced spring airsoft gun but more as a guideline as what to expect from the primary types as there are multiple price ranges for all of them.
Spring Airsoft Guns
These are known for their durability, exceptional reliability, and easy to operate. Spring airsoft guns are not dependent on external sources (air, gas, or battery), which gives them an advantage over the other types; however, you must cock a spring before your able to fire each shot. This slow firing method makes them less then ideal for airsoft games involving multiple close range opponents.
Electric Airsoft Guns
The most frequently used type. Electric airsoft guns use a rechargeable battery for its power source to control the motor and internal assembly allowing for high rates of sustained fire. There are many different kinds of electric airsoft guns, which are Automatic Electric Guns (AEGs), hybrid, Low Powered Electric Guns (LPEGs), Mini and Electric BlowBack (EBBs).
- Hybrid Airsoft Guns
Hybrid airsoft guns are very similar to Automatic Electric Guns (AEGs); however, the Hybrid has extra add-on to further replicate real firearms. The most noticeable add-ons is the shell casings, which resemble a real bullet. Another is the blowback system, which ejects the casing.
Gas Airsoft Guns
And finally, the gas airsoft guns which are usually the best proficient of the three types. It uses pressurized gas to propel pellets. The most common gases are HFC-134a and Green Gas. The uncommon gases are nitrogen, C02, and red gas.
